Mathematics

Introduction

The Lake View Mathematics program has been developed to ensure that all students can be successful in mathematics. The goal of the Math Department is to provide all students with high-quality, rigorous mathematical instruction based in skills and knowledge that are applicable in college, career, and everyday life.

Problem-solving strategies and techniques ranging from mental mathematics to the use of computers and graphing calculators are used throughout the curriculum. To reach students of varied abilities and interest levels, mathematics courses weave technology with student-centered teaching and learning techniques in the classroom to provide a rich learning experience.

In addition to the standard mathematics graduation requirements, elective mathematics courses are offered that allow students to customize their learning experience according to their interests. These elective choices include: Discrete Mathematics, Financial Algebra, Integrated Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB and a dual-credit Pre-Calculus class.
