Coming Soon!

We are off to great start this year. The Visual Arts Department (VAD) will be collaborating with The Lakeview Chamber of Commerce on a beautification project at the Low-Line Plaza. Lake View HS, along with several other area schools, are creating temporary canvas mural installations along the “L” track corridor at 3411 N. Southport Avenue. Lake View High School students will be completing two 12ft x 8ft works of art by the end of September, to be displayed shortly after, in the outdoor space.

Student Focus: Glenda V.

Glenda V. is currently a senior at LVHS. She is taking on the challenge of the Advanced Placement Drawing & Painting Portfolio. Each student is required to create 24 pieces of original artwork to be assessed by the College Board. The portfolio is divided into three sections: Concentration, Breadth and Quality. Students also complete summer assignments in order to develop skill and to have a wide range of works to edit down to their best pieces come May. Glenda has a beautiful, loose and lyrical quality in many of her artworks, such as her recent "Scooby" portrait. She is very versatile and can work in a graphic style as well as a more realistic approach that focuses on depth and perspective. Glenda plans on pursuing a degree in graphic-design/advertising.
