School spirit dress code
“LVHS” DRESS CODE (Revised 9/27/06)
The Lake View High School LSC has adopted a dress code for all students who attend the school. The main reasons for the dress code are to maintain a safe and secure learning environment and increase student achievement. The dress code does not require students to wear a uniform. It provides students with some choices in regard to acceptable clothing and will save parents/guardians money over the course of the school year. All dress must be appropriate for school and conform to the following:
This year, the LSC has approved a modification in the dress code. The new code is designed to enhance security and eliminate some of the confusion associated with the previous policy. ALL students are required to wear solid black or navy blue casual dress (chino type) slacks or skirts. Jeans are NOT allowed.
This year’s incoming freshmen and sophomore students are required to wear a solid white shirt or blouse with long or short sleeves and a collar. NO OTHER COLORS are allowed. In cold weather, students should have a sweater or sweatshirt that conforms to the dress code—solid color white without a hood.
As in the past, ALL students are to wear shoes that are both the same color and have laces that match the shoes. Coats and jackets are to be stored in the student’s locker and not worn in the classroom.
What tops can juniors, and seniors wear this year?
This year, current juniors and seniors are encouraged to embrace the totality of the new dress code. However, they will be allowed to continue with last years’ policy for shirts and blouses listed below.
Current juniors and seniors may wear Lake View clothing bearing the school name and/or insignia and the school colors—RED and WHITE. This clothing may be purchased in the attendance office—room 109—before school, after school or during the student’s lunch period.
Current juniors and seniors may also wear a plain solid red or plain solid white shirt or blouse, long or short sleeve, with or without a collar. Buttoned or zippered items must be buttoned or zippered no lower than ½ way between the neck and breast bone. In cold weather, students should have a sweater or sweatshirts that conform to the dress code—solid color red or white or Lake View red and white.
What can’t students wear?
Failure to abide by the dress code is considered an act of misconduct under the Uniform Discipline Code of the Board of Education and is dealt with accordingly. Students that refuse to abide by the dress code will be detained in the discipline office until a parent/guardian can come to school with the proper clothing. Among the items of clothing that students are not allowed to wear in school are the following:
