This past Saturday we participated in the Warrior Invite tournament at Westinghouse where we placed 1st. I believe this is the programs first ever tournament win/trophy. We came in 1st in our pool, with Taft being our toughest competitor. In the playoffs we faced Chicago Academy, beating them in 2. We made it to the final round where we faced Westinghouse, who came in first in their pool. We lost the first set pretty close, but bounced right back the second and third set for the win. I couldn't be any more proud of the girls. We played 5 games, 11 sets total, and left the tournament with a first place trophy and a 10-1 record. We had split with Taft in pool play, which is the only loss we had of the day. No matter how tired and sore the girls were from this past weeks practices, they pulled through as a team and individually. With all the doubt and hopes of us breaking in the end as a team, by coaches in the tournament, we came out on top. What really stood out to me was the encouragement and positivity from our bench. Every single point, every single play, our bench cheered non stop! I will never forget the excitement I saw in all their faces when we won!
