Thanksgiving Girls Basketball Champions!

At LVHS, the high school experience goes beyond the classroom. Boasting 20+ competitive sports teams, Lake View students have a multitude of opportunities to showcase their talents and athleticism.

From Lake View’s Athletic Director

What does it mean to be a student athlete?  That question may have as many different answers as the number of people that you ask.  As we have found space to reconnect after Covid, we have seen a greater appreciate for connectivity and engagement.  All of our teams in the fall were filled with students eager to connect, compete and be a part of something bigger than themselves.  Our worlds became smaller for awhile.  I am thrilled that through sports we have found a pathway back to the passion, friendship and dedication that was feeling elusive.  As part of our Wildcat Culture, we did our best to find a place for every student.  Some of our teams were a bit bigger than normal, some of the playing time was more limited than normal, but all of our kids became more engaged and more connected and more fit in the processs of team participation.  A sincere level of appreciation to our dedicated coaches who have worked tirelessly to help all our athletes develop.  Also a tremendous shout out to our players who have enthusiastically made the effort to engage, condition and most importantly keep their grades up.  As we always say, the student in student/ahtlete must always come first.

Now, on the Winter Season!  We have already seen great pride and accomplishment with both our girls and boys basketball programs.  We are looking for growth and opportunity for all of our students wholistically to give them a great high school experience.

Coach Patterson and the LVHS Basketball Team Helping out at LVHS Pumpkin Smash Ecology Event!

Thanks to joint efforts with the 47th Ward and Illinois Extensions, Lake View High School was the host of the Pumpkin Smash which recovered 21,000 pounds of Pumpkins that would have clogged landfills in the state. Now, the gourds are good to go on their way to compost. Great Team effort, especially from our basketball team. Always seeking great victories on and off the court!
