Mary O’Connor has been teaching English at Lake View for ten years. Prior to that, she worked for the Chicago Park District for 33 years, starting there as a lifeguard and coach, and retiring after serving as the assistant manager overseeing Chicago’s beaches and pools. Her background in aquatics serves her well as the coach of Lake View’s swimming and water polo teams, and her experience in the community lends itself to her role as moderator of Lake View’s Key Club. She received her B.A. in English Education, and her M.A. in Literature, from UIC. When she is not in the classroom, or on the pool deck, Mrs. O’Connor loves spending time with her husband, Rob, and their four children. Her family shares her passion for travel, along with the favorite memories of now legendary O’Connor family road trips.
