Katherine Cervenka has been teaching at Lake View since 2007. Prior to Lake View, she taught at Wendell Phillips High School for three years, student taught at Kenwood High School, and served as an Arnie Duncan summer fellow at Harlan High School. She received her Bachelors in Arts in English and Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and her Masters in Reading from Northeastern University. She became National Board Certified in 2008 and has served as a team leader since her arrival at Lake View, and currently, she is the senior English team lead. In 2012, Katherine became the head coach of the track and field team and in 2013 the head coach of the cross country team. In her first season as head coach, she brought the cross country team to state, a feat not achieved in over thirty years. In her own time, Katherine runs ironman triathlons and ultramarathons. This passion for health and fitness lead Katherine to earn an endorsement in Health and Physical Education and she currently teaches and leads the freshman Health/PE team.
