Mr James Thorson

Jim started teaching high school in 1998 and has been teaching at Lake View since 2006. He earned his B.S and M.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, studying squirrel behavioral ecology. Currently, he teaches Physics and Microbiology, which is focusing on human disease. He is also a co-sponsor of the National Honor Society. During the 2013-2014 school year, he worked with a graduate fellow from Northwestern University in the Reach for the Stars program, who brought real world data and scenarios into the Chemistry classroom for the students to analyze. He is a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and has had the opportunity to travel on orders to Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Norway, Italy, Spain, Japan and South Korea.
